If you have someone in a hospice situation, is it easier if the patient is in a downstair bedroom?

Play it by ear. If it was me I would use any room that was best suited in the house and make the necessary adjustments as it will obviously be a temporary situation. Many people use their dining rooms for a temporary "hospital room". Best wishes
