A woman hit my dad with her car and he was a pedestrian. hes not going to make it. can i sue her?

I really don't know where to begin with suing. Were in the hospice house with my father now just waiting for him to pass. I want to make sure he has a nice funeral and everything and feel that the woman who killed him should pay.
