How to deal with loss of a parent?

Hello everyone. This question is directed towards people who have lost loved ones (ideally their children or parents). I am 21 years old and my mother is on her last stretch in life. She is in hospice right now awaiting her passing. She was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer and has been slowly deteriorating. I love her and it's hard to know I will never see her again, physically. I seem to be handling this situation the best for the most part... probably because I keep my feelings to myself. I have talked to family and friends, but when I'm alone all the feelings of hurt return. How have you adapted? What were things you did to help yourself recover from such hardship? Even if you haven't dealt with this, what do you think you would do to keep positive and to move forward with life?
